The Best of 2018, According to We Are Mirrors

As previously mentioned, 2018 was a big year for my developing interest and tastes in film. I won’t write about this films at length or rank them, as I’m still growing my knowledge about filmmaking.

Before I get to the list, though, I would like to shout out the Netflix miniseries Maniac starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. I can’t say that I’m proud that I watched 90% of it in one sitting, but I can’t say that I regret it either. It’s incredibly thought-provoking and masterfully crafted, begging for multiple re-watches. Jonah Hill really proves himself as a capable and talented actor. It’s delightfully strange, and wonderfully self-referential. Watch multiple episodes at a time, and pay close attention. This show deserves it.

The Best 8 Films of 2018

(best sci-fi in years)
(best Coen Brothers film in years)
(best “faith-based” film since Silence)
(my personal favorite from 2018)
(best blockbuster action film in years)
(best film to see with your mom/grandma, and that’s a compliment)
(best animated film in years, and best Spider-Man film period)
(I can’t distill this film into one sentence; just watch it)
